World Sickle Cell Day aims to create greater awareness about this inherited condition. While there is no cure for Sickle Cell Disease(SCD), symptoms like pain, anemia, infections, jaundice, vision problems, high blood pressure, growth problems and organ damage can be addressed. Bone marrow transplant is the only potential treatment for SCD – more so for children below the age of 16.
